Welcome to the Valjevo’s National Museum, the museum of Valjevo’s region (current Kolubara’s district, which is comprised of municipalities of Lajkovac, Ljig, Mionica, Osecina and Ub). The museum is located in the building constructed in 1870. Almost the whole century, this building served to education – comprehensive, economic, technical schools alternated within it, as well as the primary school for several times. After the change of two permanent exhibitions (opened in 1969 and 1979), in May 2007 the third, new permanent museum exhibition of complex type is opened. On May 19th 2007, with the opening of the permanent exhibition The Third Dimension of the Past – a View from the Future the process of revitalization of National Museum Valjevo has been completed. The previous permanent exhibition of the Valjevo museum was opened in 1979, and it was closed in 1997 due to the dilapidation of the building. Into the new millennium the museum entered completely ruined – not only without a permanent exhibition, but without a depot, preservation workshop, even without premises – offices were settled in the parts of the hall exhibition where electrical installation wasn’t burnt out due to the roof leaking. The process of revitalization of the institution began in 2001, by making a construction plan, and it was continued in 2002 by beginning of the extensive constriction works. Firstly, the space of 600 square meters, indispensable for the work of expert services, was provided and afterwards, over about 1000 square meters of the ground floor, were modernly equipped with halls, space of museum’s public communication which comprises of reception hall with a souvenir shop and cultural-touristic info counter, ten exhibition halls, museum club for multicultural purposes and two gallery-halls for theme exhibitions. |
