Mission

Museum of Valjevo spreads its jurisdiction to neighbouring municipalities (Osecina, Mionica, Lajkovac, Ub and Ljig).

Its mission is to collect, guard, document, study and present museum values of the area, as well as information related to history.

Activity of Museum is to present ideas and to create adventures, being a spring of knowledge for educational and communication purposes.

This active approach allows Museum of Valjevo to promote values of Valjevo and to emphasize unique characteristics of the area.

The best museum in Serbia

Mihajlo Valtrovic rewardMuseum of Valjevo was radically refreshed in the period from 2001, growing from devastated to awarded institution. In the years 2001 and 2008, Museum association of Serbia awards us with Mihajlo Valtrovic reward.

Main exhibition

Third dimension of the past – a view from the futureIs placed in the Museums main building, along with offices and we named it Third dimension of the past – a view from the future. Main building is located in the town centre, near Grand hotel and pedestrian zone. Just next to it, you will find Muselim’s house, dedicated to days of Serbian upraising against the Turkish reign. Exhibition is named Decapitation of dukes, in the memory of tribunes killed by Turks.
