Museum of Valjevo is treasuring app 24.500 items in various collections divided to four departments, each with assigned custos.

Archaeology and numismatics department

Some 400 archaeological and 4000 numismatic items. Approximately 10.000 additional items are the result of research of other institutions in the past two decades.
Collections are supervised by custos Elizabeta Cebasek, assisted by Milan Veselinovic and volunteers when needed.

History department
Holds app 8.000 items. There are ongoing activities on dividing of this collection to sub collections (weapons, medals, photography, postcards, archive items etc.)
Supervised by custos Dragana Lazarevic Ilic and Museum’s manager, Vladimir Krivosejev (museums adviser)

History of art department
Is responsible for 800 museum items and supervised by custos Branko Lazic.

Ethnology department
App 1.300 items.
Supervised by custos Borivoje Pantic, assistance and coordination by custos Gordana Markovic.

The best museum in Serbia

Mihajlo Valtrovic rewardMuseum of Valjevo was radically refreshed in the period from 2001, growing from devastated to awarded institution. In the years 2001 and 2008, Museum association of Serbia awards us with Mihajlo Valtrovic reward.

Main exhibition

Third dimension of the past – a view from the futureIs placed in the Museums main building, along with offices and we named it Third dimension of the past – a view from the future. Main building is located in the town centre, near Grand hotel and pedestrian zone. Just next to it, you will find Muselim’s house, dedicated to days of Serbian upraising against the Turkish reign. Exhibition is named Decapitation of dukes, in the memory of tribunes killed by Turks.
