Valjevo's National Museum

Third dimension of the past –a view from the future is located in the main building of Museum of Valjevo. Opening show was held on 16^th of May 2007.

On the voyage trough one-of-a-kind time gates, one can experience the cave ambient of first human settlement, as well as three dimensional model of pottery workshop dated to neolite. Sounds of old blacksmith with sparks of his fire and pharmacist’s violine will follow visitor as he steps trough.

Further, museum audience meets original depiction of wask candles handcraft or a group of well suited citizens in expectation of the arrival of first train.

Realistic insight to history is easyer if you walk trough tents or Valjevo hospital from WW I, or a war cabinet of duke Zivojin Misic brought from the Greek battlefield.

Furniture, once owned by merchant’s family from Valjevo, tells us about King Petar, Prince Alexandar, duke Putnik or Consul from Wiena.

Almost 30.000 years old stone tools, found in Salitrena cave, bring the testimony of that time, just like Vinca pottery, wooden plaught and stone mill. There is also medevial Serbian sword, first rear end loading rifle from Serbia, Maxim machine gun and a whole collection of automatic rifles. One’s attention is drawn to a Roman candle holder, lead plate with depiction of Danube horseman cult and tumbstones of Jefrem Djurdje and Vlkdrag Velimirovic, medevial tribunes.

Many other unique items, outstanding reconstructions of ambient in assistance of modern technology can bring you back to past allowing you to experience third dimension of centuries that passed.
